Sep. 14th, 2006 09:05 amWent in for jury duty yesterday. Sat around for a while, then was excused. I'm okay with it, civic duty and all. Have been on a few juries in the past.
Got a call in the middle of the day from a friend & former co-worker who was in town on vacation for a few days. She moved to Arizona a year ago for a work project that was subsequently cancelled. She's not sure if she wants to move back to the SF Bay Area. We ended up meeting after dinner and it was nice catching up (at Fenton's, an ice cream parlor I like a lot -- black & tan sundae and strawberry ice cream soda w/vanilla ice cream for me!). Was pleased and relieved to hear she may have come to terms with her issues regarding her slightly abusive ex-husband with whom she'd been married for twenty years, separated from twice, divorced (four years ago?), then lived with for a while before going to Arizona without him. I think this last year gave her enough space to work things out. She's finally feeling like she can move on, on her terms. Whew and yay!
