Favorite movies of 2005 and such

Mysterious Skin. Poignant, creepy, powerful. Joseph Gordon-Leavitt was great. Michelle Trachtenberg was better than "not awful." Probably my favorite movie of the year. Still want to reread Scott Heim's novel, then watch the movie again.

Rent. Really enjoyed it, as previously mentioned. Can't believe the DVD will be coming out this month. I wonder when the Sing-Along-Rent showings will start up?

Land of the Dead. Fun! Zombies galore!

Brokeback Mountain. Another poignant film. Beautifully filmed. Felt all the performances were very good.

Capote: Because Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener were excellent. The real Truman Capote must have been a very scary little man.

Sin City: This had a great look. The performances were pretty good (even Jessica Alba!) and the violence was, for me, an important part of the stories. Elijah Wood -- eeeeeewwwwww.

King Kong. Since I brought up the look of the previous movie, KK gets a special mention because it also stuck in my mind for the beautiful visuals; otherwise, it wouldn't be on this list.
