[livejournal.com profile] allisona has been posting memories from the year -- at least the positive ones -- so I'll see what I can do. My first thoughts were "family, family, family" so I'll try to stick with specific family items when I mention those.

Not-so-fun stuff hit in the first few months of the year. That list is:
- Cynthia McQuillin's passing in January.
- Mom's mini-stroke(s), also in January. She has mostly recovered! Yay!
- My aunt (dad's sister) falling and breaking her hip in February.
- Octavia Butler's passing, also in February.

Now onto the nice and fun stuff. Neil Sedaka's "Calendar Girl" comes to mind.

January

- [livejournal.com profile] tennis_bear's visit. Nice time, though I got the bad news re: Cindy and mom (and another friend's life situation) while he was here. Not blaming him. Nope, not me.

February

- "Lestat," the vampire musical based on Anne Rice's writings. I'm glad I saw it. Gone now.

March

- Consonance, the local filkcon. My first science fiction convention of any sort since the Boston Worldcon in 2004. '05 was the first calendar year I attended zero cons since the late 70's. It was good seeing people. The Cindy McQuillin memorial circle was very draining, but I was glad to be there and participate. Got to experience [livejournal.com profile] unclechristo both here in nearby Milpitas as well as in Toronto at FKO!

- FilKONtario, my favorite filkcon, was at the end of March/beginning of April. Got to room with [livejournal.com profile] tigertoy and saw lots of others, too.

April

- While in the Toronto area I saw the musical, "The Lord of the Rings." Yes, the Evil Eyeball was included, no extra charge ([livejournal.com profile] sibylle!).

May

- Erasure "acoustic" concert! Met w/other fans before the show for dinner. Haven't communicated with them since that day, but oh, well.

June

- Sharing spit with a psycho. He turned out to be flaky, not a psycho. Dating drama: may it continue into the new year. Want better results, though.

July

- "A Chorus Line" has its limited run in San Francisco before returning to Broadway. It made me very happy to see a professional, polished version!

August

- The World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim. Much to see and do. One of the best parts was rooming with [livejournal.com profile] tammy_g and [livejournal.com profile] mat_t. We talked and laughed a lot.

September

- I started my own silly countdown a month in advance for ...

October

- Release of the Lemony Snicket book, "The End," with dad's name in it. In the last couple of months I've given copies to friends and family who find it a nice keepsake, even for those who haven't read the books.

November

- Lemony Snicket event. Mom telling Mr. Handler, "I'm MRS. Jojishoji!" -- the memory still makes me smile.

I was happy for all the time with sis & mom, including this past week.
