boyfriend (not con) yesterday. James aka Boyfriend 2000 (the year not the numerical count) told me he and his beau of about of a year had split up. That he phoned me was not unusual because we remained friends after our break-up and we talk every few weeks and even meet for movie/music/dinner once in a while.

James invited me to a jazz concert tonight. He wasn't going with his now-ex, so that made sense. I'm often scheduled so I'm sure it wouldn't have surprised him had I passed on the show (Cecil Taylor, piano-dude), but as I was available I took him up on it.

Only after the call did I think (or overthink) he might be doing the rebound thing. Probably not. Maybe. We did talk about relationship stuff while he was with the guy and I actually thought they were a good match. Maybe he feels talking things out with another ex would be useful.

I'm sure we'll talk about family, jazz singing and movies, too.

Thinking. Overthinking. Overthinking ...

Oh dear. Reading this all I could say was "yes, this is Joey talking!" HUGS! Hint - it's ok to just go have a good time and see where things stand. Chances are if you've stayed friends you may be right about the "talk it over with another ex" thing, but then, maybe on some level it's a rebound thing - after all, you are good looking and wonderful. Don't worry. If it *is* rebound you will know it and you'll be able to get past that one way or another. So - Have fun. :-)

This is what's nice about reading old lj entries. It's all done, like history. No need to fret because it all turned out okay. Or if not the worst is over.
