Yup, of the critical stuff. My original thought, archiving-wise, was to burn a cd with the really important stuff. However, I'm now wondering if having a whole extra external hard-drive for everything is the way to go, since they're not so expensive these days.
Another option is buy a DVD writer, which is relatively cheap device but extremely useful. DVD ROM's hold 4GB, way good for most critical data backups. And backing up 40 GB of music files onto 10 DVD's is easy and light for most users (if you've got 40GB of digitized music).
PLUS... iDVD suddenly becomes a useful program for you. *smile*
Hey, I actually have been regularly backing up the really important stuff (like tax files, etc.), but in light of the recent problem I'm wondering if those nice-to-keeps like photos and iTunes are important enough to back up as well.
