So I still haven't opened the iPhone box.

However, I may be more troubled by having been dumped than I realize. Although I did have a few of these before "break-up day," in my freezer ...

green tea gelato - Marco Polo
arcobaleno (pistachio, almond, chocolate, vanilla) gelato - Marco Polo
blueberry ice cream - Double Rainbow
roasted peach ice cream - Three Twins (their stuff is organic)
lime sorbet - Three Twins
grapefruit campari sorbetto - Ciao Bella
blackberry cabernet sorbetto - Ciao Bella
fair trade chocolate gelato - Ciao Bella
lemon creme fraiche gelato - Ciao Bella
cherry garcia ice cream - Ben & Jerry's

It only seemed like a lot after I came home with the four pints of Ciao Bella -- I was the winning bidder for a "year of gelato" from the PBS station auction. 12 certificates, one for each month, 4 pints/certificate. "Unfortunately," I had to fully redeem the certificate.

Good thought -- in case the iPhone is defective.

But... you can return it for full price (within 14 days) if it's still sealed. If the seal is broken, Apple will charge a 10% restocking fee...

Yup, coming up on the return date. What to do ...

Dinner? Dim Sum?

Fenton's?

Actually, I think the volume of sweets was somewhat coincidental -- see my reply to tennis bear.

Still, maybe we can take Lee to Fenton's this weekend to cheer her up?

Your freezer also screams, "I live in California!" The only one of those that I've even seen for sale here in Philly is the Ben & Jerry's (although the cool new gelato place in town does serve some of the others).

Sorry to hear about the breakup.

I hear it screaming that very thing!

Three Twins is both local and new-ish -- I get their stuff at my farmer's market.

Ciao Bella is local and supplies many fine restaurants in Northern California.

Marco Polo is a shop in San Francisco I've been going to for at least 15 years -- it's run by this Chinese man and his family. In addition to the typical gelato flavors, he also does "exotic" ones that are familiar to Asians: red bean, black sesame, soursop, durian, taro.

Double Rainbow is from San Francisco, but I thought they had national distribution.

All that fit in your freezer?

I wish I lived near you. I'd help finish them off with you :oD

Hey, what about your prep for Pennsic? :)

Would you eat gelato flavors like soursop, red bean, taro, green tea, durian or jack fruit?

Date: 2007-07-19 06:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pinoyboytoy.livejournal.com
I mean after Pennsic. heh.

Actually they all sound pretty good. Except "soursop" what's that?

I'm filipino! We have CHEESE ice cream. I'd eat anything.

Except (Hagk!) eggplant. Ew.

Date: 2007-07-19 06:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] trektone.livejournal.com
Soursop is a tangy, sweet tropical fruit. I think it's also called guanabana or something like that.

Speaking of filipino foods, a filipino ex seems to have been on the finicky side compared with other filipino friends and acquaintances, although he was okay with eggplant. He really did not like dinuguan, balut or chicharon bulaklak. Do you love those?

From: [identity profile] pinoyboytoy.livejournal.com
Oh yeah! Yumm!!! (Well except Balut. And dog. Ok I guess there are some things I won't eat)

Now stop it. You're making me hungry LoL

OOooooo Can I try some of that when I visit??

And if you haven't opened your iPhone box by then, let's have a ceremony and take a look *g.*

For sure!

I do believe I'll be making a decision on the iPhone in a week or less. If I decide to keep it, you may, of course, touch it!

You'll let me touch it?

Feeling generous, are you? *snicker*

I will accept the hugs!

I think it was coincidence I have so many. The roasted peach ice cream and lime sorbet were obtained on Saturday at the farmer's market I'd been missing because I usually spent Friday night through Sunday w/bf2007. My sis and I had taken mom to dr appts the week before in San Francisco and mom loves Marco Polo, so I happened to have gotten those then as the shop isn't convenient to my work location even though that's in SF, too. And the Ciao Bella story I told tennis bear.

My Fenton's sundae user pic brings back great memories!

I saw the note that included mention of bf2007 departing, but it disappeared from my friends list almost immediately. Sorry things didn't work out, but you are far from alone; as you can see, you have many friends from all over, and we all wish you well. Don't give up, you just haven't found the right person yet. I know I had trouble seeing that for a long time, especially when I found myself reeling from one rejection to another (I even had a girl tell me she was interested as my party was _leaving_ at the end of a gathering, but she hadn't shown any interest before that moment).
As for the goodies in the freezer, several of them sound heavenly. Wish I could come out for a visit, but the next time I expect to be headed in that general direction is when I fly to Denver next summer.
Be well. Maybe make time/money for OVFF? Or FKO? We don't see enough of you east of the Rockies.

From: [identity profile] trektone.livejournal.com
Well, I'll see you in Denver next year, if not sooner! Love FKO, but I don't think I'll be going next year. Although I enjoy many of the people in attendance, I'm not crazy about the con vibe of OVFF -- weird, huh?

Wow...it's a good thing you didn't take home the dessert from the other night then!!

(Although...you could've added the gelato(s) to them...

YUMMY.

Sweety: do enjoy your ice creams...but PLEASE.. (screams) Think of the children!

*composes self and returns to reality*

Please factor the ice cream into your calorie count for the day. When you eat it, please take time, like Chef from South Park says, let it make sweet love to you...for hours... (well, just savour it.)

The key is to take a loooong time to enjoy each spoonful..and just give yourself a little serving.

Then you're treating yourself, and not adding to your waste line.

People think I'm thin...but the change has come to me to too. So, please harken to me! I'm you're diet angel! ;)
